The 60th running of the Irish Oaks was held on Saturday 10th July 1954 over 1 1/2 miles of The Curragh, starting at the Howth Post. A pot of 5880 sovereigns was availble, 900 sovereigns to the second and 580 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by Miss Eileen McLean, trained by Hubert Hartigan and ridden by G Cooney. The winner won by a length, with 10 lengths between second and third. |
